One of Britain's most senior Asian policemen, Chief Superintendent Dal Babu, has accused chief constables of failing to understand the importance for more ethnic minority recruits.

The 49 year-old is today quitting the Metropolitan Police after being rejected for promotion to chief officer rank.

He was considered unsuitable to assume the top rank because his media interview skills were not of a suitable standard despite having a glittering CV, the Guardian reported.
