A group of parents of children at Derby free school Al-Madinah have written to the Department for Education urging them give proposals on the way forward "due and proper consideration."

Tomorrow is schools minister Lord Nash's deadline for an action plan to be submitted to him about the future direction of the school.

Following an Ofsted inspection at the start of October the school, which has 412 pupils, was said to be "dysfunctional," "inadequate" and "in chaos."
