Papiss Cisse's Newcastle future is in huge doubt after the forward was left out of the club's pre-season trip to Portugal because of his refusal to wear Wonga-branded training gear.

Cisse will instead begin training on his own in private at Newcastle's Benton training ground today in non Wonga branded kit.

The Senegalese striker, a Muslim, has raised an objection on religious and ethical grounds that he would not wear the Wonga branding. Under Sharia Law a Muslim is not allowed to benefit from lending money or receiving money from someone. This means earning interest is not allowed. Wonga's APR is over 4000 per cent.
