A candidate challenging U.S. Rep. Richard Neal, D-Springfield, in the Democratic primary shared on her Facebook page an essay that maintains 9/11 and Pearl Harbor were inside jobs and that America should not have fought Hitler in defense of the Jews.
Tahirah Amatul-Wadud of Springfield shared the essay on her Facebook page in November 2015. Ms. Amatul-Wadud serves as general counsel for the Muslims of America Inc., whose spiritual leader, Pakistani Muslim cleric Sheik Mubarek Gilani, penned the essay.
"Some of the statements Ms. Amatul-Wadud has shared on social media have elements of conspiratorial anti-Semitism," the Anti-Defamation League of New England said Thursday. "We believe that Ms. Amatul-Wadud should clarify whether she agrees with these statements."
