Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre reaffirmed the city's position against Quebec's religious neutrality law during an executive committee meeting Wednesday morning.
"We have always said that it is not up to a government, no matter which, to decide how our employees will dress, how we will render services," he said. "We are all OK with faces being covered while providing services."
His statement comes a day after Justice Minister Stéphanie Vallée proposed amendments to Bill 62 that would require municipalities, metropolitan communities and public transit authorities to comply with the proposed legislation.
