Dr. Mark Christian spoke Tuesday at the Oklahoma State Capitol at a meeting sponsored by state Rep. John Bennett.
Christian gave a short lecture, entitled: "Islam & Christianity: A Former Muslim's Perspective." Born in Egypt and raised Muslim, Christian converted to Christianity in 2003 and moved to the United States.
"With the rise of the Islamic State, there are many honest questions about this subject that need honest answers," said Bennett, R-Sallisaw. "Dr. Christian's credibility is unquestioned. Having been born an Egyptian, he cannot be called a racist. Having been raised a Muslim and trained in Islam, he cannot be accused of religious bigotry. He is able to share in Arabic or English the differences and similarities between the Western and Islamic world views that we need to understand."
