Police made three arrests during a protest rally in one of Moscow's districts on Wednesday against the planned construction of an Islamic center with a mosque.
The rally organizers had set the time for starting the meeting at 8 p.m., but more than 1,500 people who had gathered on the site of the event on the Pyatnitskoye Shosse street in the Mitino district started the meeting half an hour before, an Interfax correspondent reported from the scene.
Police were looking on but around 9 p.m. asked those present through a loudspeaker to end the meeting as the latter had no official permission as required by law. Three activists were arrested and taken to police buses parked nearby.
