Accusations of racial profiling have exploded since the Associated Press began reporting on NYPD surveillance of Muslim Americans' activities last August. Now the AP's Pulitzer for this series has given these claims an air of spurious legitimacy.
Yet, much like President Obama's premature Nobel Peace Prize, this Pulitzer is more about feel-good sentiment than reality.
Of course, the NYPD has monitored Muslim communities for counterterrorism purposes. Yet this constitutes no kind of illegitimate or illegal profiling.
