Muzzammil S. "Mo" Hassan today told the jurors who are about to decide his fate that prosecutors "have no evidence, no eyewitnesses, just hearsay" claims that he viciously abused his wife for years before her alleged murder.
As Hassan, 46, who was allowed to serve as his own trial attorney, began his closing arguments shortly after 10 a.m., he complained about allegedly slanted media coverage for the past two years as he pressed his claims he only killed and beheaded his his wife, Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37, in self-defense.
The former local banker and cable television entrepreneur has been jailed since he surrendered about an hour after he beheaded his wife Feb. 12, 2009, six days after she began divorce proceedings to end their nearly decade-long marriage.
