For the seventh consecutive year, Arlington Public Schools has been awarded the STARTALK grant to fund the school system's summer Chinese and Arabic program.
APS also has been awarded the STARTALK Teacher Training Program in Secondary Chinese and Arabic grant, the first year that school system has received a secondary grant that includes a teacher-training component.
STARTALK is a federally-funded program established by the National Security Initiative to expand foreign-language education in under-taught critical languages.
The school system will be offering a three-week intensive summer program in Arabic and Chinese for students currently in grades 6 to 11. The program will run from July 8-26 at the Arlington campus of the Northern Virginia Community College.
