The Los Angeles Times, citing a promise it made to a confidential source, refuses to release a videotape that it says shows Barack Obama praising a professor who has been a fierce critic of Israel.
So FOX News' Griff Jenkins went straight to the source -- he tracked down Rashid Khalidi Thursday at his Upper West Side Manhattan apartment near Columbia University, where he now teaches.
The encounter was a short one.
Asked about his relationship with Obama, Khalidi repeatedly refused to answer questions.
"I will not talk to you," he said.
He tried to cover the video camera as he ducked into an elevator, calling for security to remove the FOX News crew from the building.
Khalidi reportedly once served as the spokesman for the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was a U.S.-designated terror group, though he denies the charge.
In April, the L.A. Times reported on a farewell party Obama attended in 2003 for Khalidi, who had been a fellow professor at the University of Chicago. At the party, Obama purportedly "reminisced about meals prepared by Khalidi's wife, Mona, and conversations that had challenged his thinking."
Khalidi and his wife were leaving Chicago for Columbia University.
