Eli Lake reports that Uzi Arad, said to be Netanyahu's nominee to head Israel's National Security Council, is being denied a visa to enter the U.S., because of questions about his relationship to Larry Franklin, the Pentagon official in the AIPAC case. According to an earler report in Yedioth Ahronoth, the controversy revolves around a document that Arad sent to Franklin, rather than information Franklin gave to Arad. The report said the document was written by Eran Lerman, a former Israeli military intelligence official who today is executive director of the American Jewish Committee's Israel/Middle East Office in Jerusalem, and that Lerman's paper was sent to all attendees at an Israeli academic conference, including Franklin.
