Bush told the Saban Forum yesterday, ""America will not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon." This is his strongest formulation to date.
But a friend reminds that Obama used even stronger language, in the second Presidential Debate on October 7, 2008:
"We cannot allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon. And I will do everything that's required to prevent it. And we will never take the military option off the table. And its important that we don't provide veto power to the U.N. or anyone else in acting in our interests. It is important, though, for us to use all the tools at our disposal to prevent the scenario where we've got to make those kinds of choices."
Obama also said, in his AIPAC speech on June 4, 2008, "I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon." He added, "Everything in my power. Everything."
