Another very well-informed friend confirms that Ross will be Iran envoy, but with an expanded portfolio. Ross' appointment was announced to the Board of Directors of his current employer, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, according to the Nelson Report and the Washington Times.
But the same source denies the Nelson Report account that Richard Haass has been chosen as special envoy for Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. Clinton has not yet decided this position. This source says it probably will not be Haass, and probably not Martin Indyk.
This source says that Dan Kurtzer and Toni Verstandig have not in fact been offered anything up to now.
