In response to a query from a reader of this blog, acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, who will soon go to Damascus for exploratory talks with the Syrians, is not Jewish. Jeffrey David Feltman is a Presbyterian from Greenville, Ohio.
