As if there was not enough confusion about Dennis Ross, David Ignatius, often well-sourced, weighs in today with this: "The administration official who oversees the Iran file is William Burns, the undersecretary of state for political affairs. Although Dennis Ross will take a broad strategic look at the region in his new post of State Department adviser, senior officials stress that Burns is the address for Iran policy." Eli Lake at the Washington Times reports that Ross will be the contral figure in producing a new national Security Decision Directive on Iran. Burns represented the U.S. in the most recent talks with Iranians in Wiesbaden on February 4.
