J Street fails to prevent Senate vote supporting Israel

Against the will of J Street, the Senate voices strong support for Israel's Gaza battle against Hamas: "Recognizing the right of Israel to defend itself against attacks from Gaza and reaffirming the United States' strong support for Israel in its battle with Hamas, and supporting the Israeli-Palestinian peace process." J Street wanted a resolution that would call on the US to press for an "immediate" ceasefire, something the people and government of Israel did not want. See also

J Street often asserts that it is "pro-Israel." By this it manifestly does not mean it supports what the overwhelming majority of the people of Israel say are their own vital interests. Actually, J-Street has a use only for the 10% of Israelis furthest on the left. Nor does J-Street give much importance to what the Israeli Cabinet believes are the nation's vital interests, nor the senior staff of the IDF, nor any of its major parties. J Street is opposed to all of them, including Labor and Kadima and sometimes even Meretz. What J-Street actually means by pro-Israel is to be pro- what Jeremy Ben Ami and three other guys think israel should do. Their wisdom is offered to the world in J-Street statements crafted by these visionaries, which are supposed to be the guidance fo anyone who wants to earn the accolade "pro-peace and pro-Israel." If you think they don't know what they are talking about and are just flat wrong, you are a hater of peace and not truly pro-Israel.
